Module 12 – Peer Mediation

We are delighted to introduce Module 12 – Peer Mediation, now available on the DEQ Digital platform!

Peer mediation is a practical and ethical way to resolve conflicts through dialogue, understanding, and shared responsibility. It builds on previous modules about communication, emotions, dialogue, and conflict resolution.

In this module, participants will explore the role of a peer mediator and understand key principles such as neutrality, confidentiality, and voluntary participation. You will learn the steps of the peer mediation process and practise important skills including active listening, clarification, negotiation, and reframing.

The module also highlights an important limitation: not all conflicts are suitable for peer mediation. You will learn how to recognize when mediation is appropriate and when support from adults or professionals is needed.

By the end of the module, you will feel more confident using mediation skills in school, among peers, and in online environments. The module supports empathy, respectful communication, and peaceful conflict resolution.

The DEQ Digital platform allows learners to study at their own pace and apply skills in real-life and online situations.

If you want to develop your mediation skills and support healthier communication among peers, Module 12 is your next step.
